Summary The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors for the services of chemical waste pick-up and disposal. The contractor will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous chemical waste generated by SMCO facilities. The chosen contractor must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing hazardous waste management and ensure that all services provided are in line with the highest standards of safety and environmental protection. Detailed Specifications Contractors are required to perform the services outlined in this scope of work in adherence to the following specifications and standards: Regulatory Compliance: All services shall comply with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations. Compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards related to hazardous materials handling. Waste Characterization: The contractor shall properly categorize chemical wastes as hazardous or non-hazardous, following the regulatory guidelines. Waste profiles must be established for each type of waste collected. Packaging and Labeling: All waste must be securely packaged in compliance with CA guidelines prior to pick-up. All containers must be accurately labeled as per applicable regulations, including the date of accumulation and the type of waste. Transportation: Transport vehicles must meet all regulatory requirements for transporting hazardous materials. Equip transport vehicles with appropriate safety and spill response equipment. Disposal: All waste shall be disposed of at licensed and approved facilities. Certificates of disposal must be provided to MDH post-disposal. Scheduled pick-ups must occur on agreed dates, with sufficient notice for any necessary adjustments. Service Hours: Services should be available during standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM). Emergency services must be available beyond standard business hours. Safety Protocols: The contractor must adhere to all safety protocols while on SMCO premises.
